Do you have questions about sleeping in a bra?

Although I can’t recall when I was advised not to wear bras, I do remember that the message has been in my head since I first started wearing them. Although it is common to believe that wearing a bra can be harmful for many reasons, is this true?

Many believe wearing a bra while sleeping improves their health and comfort. Let’s see…

Do Bras Make It Harmful to Wear While You Sleep?

It’s not a bad idea to wear a bra while sleeping. Contrary to what some old wives’ tales might have you believe, a bra is not a bad thing for your breast health or will stunt your growth.

Consider the possibility of discomfort or irritation from wearing a bra while you sleep. People sweat more at night, especially if they’re menopausal. Ask my mom! This means you are more likely to experience skin irritation if your bra is thicker with padding or underwiring.

You should also avoid wearing bras that are too tight. This can cause discomfort and restrict your circulation. A bra that is too tight is more of an issue with the fit than with how it’s being worn. If you have any questions, please refer to our bra fitting guides.

Do Bras Make a Good Pillow?

While it is not necessarily a bad idea to wear a bra while sleeping, it doesn’t mean it is a good idea. One side of the debate about sleeping in a bra is that it helps prevent sagging. However, this differs from science (see Healthline’s in-depth article). It’s up to the individual to decide if sleeping in a bra is beneficial or detrimental.

Do You Need to Sleep with a Bra on?

Why not if there is no good or bad reason to wear a bra while you sleep? This is just like wearing a bra.

Women who sleep with bras on feel more secure and comfortable during the night. If you think this is you and need more support, why not sleep in a bra?

Others feel the exact opposite. They find it restrictive and uncomfortable. This is how I think. BraForMe was founded days after I started. We measured my boobs to find the perfect bra. Bras don’t have to be uncomfortable if they’re the right size and style.

But, after a long day, I still love taking off a bra. Perhaps it’s because I associate being braless with rest. But I can’t sleep in a bra. Although my boobs tend to be larger than average, it is much more comfortable for them to breathe at night. Sagging can be prevented by sleeping in a bra, but if you don’t feel comfortable, it’s not necessary.

Is it possible to get cancer from wearing a bra while you sleep?

You can’t get breast carcinoma by wearing a bra while you sleep. Although some claim that wired bras cause cancer by blocking lymph flow, no scientific evidence exists. You don’t have to be concerned about breast cancer risk if you decide to wear a bra.

You should continue to check your breasts no matter what bed you choose. Please review my Breast Cancer Awareness post, which will give you all the information you need to check your breasts properly.
